With Samsung and Bhabhi Ka Bhaukal (2023) Part 2 Hindi Web SeriesMotorola launching their foldable smartphones yesterday and today, it's Xiaomi's time to shine.
On Thursday, at an event in China, the company launched the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, a foldable smartphone that boasts a very slim frame and a fairly affordable price.
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has a 6.56-inch, 120Hz cover display with a 21:9 ratio, and an 8.02-inch, 120Hz foldable inner display. The phone's hinge has been thoroughly redesigned compared to the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold, enabling Xiaomi to make the Mix Fold 2 really thin — just 5.4 millimeters when unfolded, and 11.2 millimeters when folded, though that doesn't seem to account for the sizable camera bump on the back.

It's worth comparing those numbers to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 4, which has a 6.3-millimeter body when unfolded and a 14.2 to 15.8-millimeter body when folded. I haven't tried out these phones yet, but the difference has to be meaningful, given that foldable phones' bulkiness when folded is a pretty big downside compared to regular, candy bar phones.

Speaking of cameras, the Mix Fold 2 has a Leica-branded camera with a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 13-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera on the back.
Other specs of note are the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, 12GB of RAM, and a 4,500mAh battery with 67W fast charging. The phone runs on Android 12 with Xiaomi's MIUI Fold 13 on top.

The pricing starts at CNY 8,999 ($1,336) which is far from cheap, but is still far more affordable than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4's starting price of $1,799.
Just like Motorola's new Razr 2022, though, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is currently only available in China, and there's no indication that it's coming to other markets.
